Our client, an established, networked law firm with offices in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, has an opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join its conveyancing department in Chesterfield. There is also the option of working in Derby for the right candidate.

The successful applicants will be team players with good administration, IT and communication skills, since the role will involve significant contact with clients, both face to face and by telephone. Ideally candidates will have good working knowledge of conveyancing, its procedures and processes and the ability to work both independently and under supervision. The role requires applicants with enthusiastic personalities who are both motivated and confident.

Our client uses a conveyancing case management system, so previous experience with these systems and MS Office would be an advantage, though not essential as training would be provided.

Previous Conveyancing experience is essential but further training will be given to the successful applicants.

As a Motor personal injury claims handler, you will handle cases referred to our client through an insurance provider for recovery of their policyholder’s losses and any injury resulting from road traffic collisions and accidents.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Running your own high volume caseload of claims from inception to settlement
  • Taking new new instructions
  • Evaluating, valuing and evidencing new claims
  • Building rapport and maintaining excellent relations with your client
  • Negotiating settlement and proceedings with defendants representatives
  • Filing court papers and handling the whole litigation process

Previous experience gained working in a similar claimant role would be advantageous though consideration will be given to applications from those with defendant experience.

To succeed in this role you must be confident and motivated with good communication skills and the ability to handle a high volume caseload. You will be working in a busy, professional environment running a number of similar cases at all times and, dependent on your level of experience, should be able to work with minimal supervision.
